My Son Has The Quiet ADD

"My son is 15, in Grade 9 and not a typical ADHD kid. He has the quiet ADD – the one where he is well behaved and compliant, he withdraws and everyone thinks he is getting it but in actual fact he is a million moons away. He has struggled through school since he started school but works so hard to get through. He has learned to be organised and diligent – he never misses an assignment deadline and hardly ever leaves homework undone, unless it's maths and he has no idea where to go next.

ADHD & Adolescence

My son is turning 13 next month and he is changing so much! When kids have ADHD and are at THAT stage, I like to refer to them as "ADDolescents". The extra "D" in the spelling stands for "Difficult", "Demanding", "Disrespectful" "Draining", "Delinquent". Believe me I could go on!

Matric exams are looming and you are being pressured to make a decision about your future. As an ADDer this is a very difficult time.  We tend to react to whatever comes up and impulisively choose something because our friends are doing it, our parents say we must or we have a romantic notion of what we will be doing.
