"My son is 15, in Grade 9 and not a typical ADHD kid. He has the quiet ADD – the one where he is well behaved and compliant, he withdraws and everyone thinks he is getting it but in actual fact he is a million moons away. He has struggled through school since he started school but works so hard to get through. He has learned to be organised and diligent – he never misses an assignment deadline and hardly ever leaves homework undone, unless it's maths and he has no idea where to go next.

My son is turning 13 next month and he is changing so much! When kids have ADHD and are at THAT stage, I like to refer to them as "ADDolescents". The extra "D" in the spelling stands for "Difficult", "Demanding", "Disrespectful" "Draining", "Delinquent". Believe me I could go on!

Matric exams are looming and you are being pressured to make a decision about your future. As an ADDer this is a very difficult time. We tend to react to whatever comes up and impulisively choose something because our friends are doing it, our parents say we must or we have a romantic notion of what we will be doing.
