Somebody once said to me that visitors are like fish. They go off after 3 days. For those with ADHD it might be half that.
I always try to bear this in mind when staying with family or friends or when they ask to come and stay with us.

It's that time of year again, all the shops have their glossy adverts stuffed into newspapers. We are being bombarded about the joy of giving from all forms of media: radio, television, sms, emails and mms! This year things are a little tighter financially too, Santa is on a diet, and has tightened his belt dramatically over his rapidly shrinking belly! The jolly ""Ho-ho-ho"" of Christmas past, is likely to be followed this year with a more despairing ""No-no-no"

In the good or bad, depending on your perspective, old days, ADHD children who disrupted the class, ran amok, couldn't sit still and didn't listen were beaten to teach them to conform and behave. Those for whom beating did not have the desired effect ended up in reform schools and frequently became drop outs, addicts and/or jail bait.

Having ADHD is challenging to self and others; how much more challenging does this become when we hit middle age? The manifestation of falling into a slump which generally associates itself with mid life begins to surface. For the ADDer, two loud voices begin screaming in the head now instead of one.
